North bank area of Avon / Ōtākaro River presents first delivery phase of  Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial. Wide bank offers green open space for quiet reflection and gatherings at larger events.

There is long riverside footpath going through park with old established trees. Semicircular path branches off and follows the flow of the River. When descending closer to water the basalt edge of the path creates a seating area. By the path near the River there is garden, planted by bereaved families.

Območje severnega brega reke Avon / Ōtākaro  predstavlja prvo fazo izgradnje nacionalnega spomenika Canterbury Earthquake Memorial. Širok breg nudi odprt zelen prostor, namenjen tihemu premišljevanju in zbiranju ljudi ob večjih prireditvah.
